Can I Prevent Arthritis?
Yes! Don’t be resigned to the fact that you will get arthritis as you age. Sure, you are more susceptible, but things can be done to prevent it.
Weight control is a big one, the less stress on the joints, the less likely you are to suffer from cartilage damage. Protect your joints from serious injuries or repeated minor injuries. Those at work such as kneeling, poor postur, just basic repetitive movements that will put stress through a joint are likely to increase the chance of cartilage problems. Exercise regularly, even getting the weeds out of the garden is good! The stronger the muscles, the less work your cartilage has to do to shock absorb! It can also help prevent stiffness and soreness through an increase in range of motion.
Basically, as with many diseases, a healthy lifestyle will help ward arthritis off!
